Being a huge fan of 80's music I was so excited that somebody was doing a show featuring some of my favorite songs of all time. I take that back. When Rock of Ages was first announced in the Summer of 2008 I was intrigued but skeptical. You see jukebox musicals are not really my thing. Although I did love Jersey Boys. I first saw Rock of Ages Off-Broadway in October 2008. Not only was I pleasantly surprised that I liked it so much but if I had to recommend one show to see while your here then this is the one. Now I'll admit if you are the type that loves traditional musical theatre than you might not like it. Maybe I'm wrong. I have an idea. Why don't you check it out and decide for yourself. Who knows? You might even like it. I know I did.

Rock Out To Rock Of Ages

Now I'll be the first to admit that Rock of Ages is not for everybody. Those of you who enjoy a more traditional musical like South Pacific or A Little Night Music probably won't like it. My boss who loves almost everything found it to be a little too campy for his tastes. Well it is. There's no denying that. In my opinion that's what it makes it so much fun and unique. Not only that but I can personally guarantee you there is nothing else like it on Broadway. That's a fact. Now if you love the music of the 80's as much as I do then Rock of Ages is the show for you. What I love most about the show is that besides being a blast is that it is attracting a whole new audience that would probably never go to a Broadway show. Who knows maybe by seeing a show like Rock of Ages they will see that theatre can be fun,and they will come back and see something else in the future. Now that is we need. More people supporting theatre. Without the audience we would not survive. Not only that but I would be out of a job. Now you don't want to see that happen do you?

This past weekend my sister in law flew in from Florida and saw the show and absolutely loved it as well, and has returned to Florida telling everyone about it. Rock Of Ages CD Released Today

I cannot wait until my shift at work is over today. No it's not what you think. I love my job. It's just that I am counting the minutes until I can clock out and head over to Best Buy to get my copy of Rock of Ages. The show which was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical is without a doubt one of my favorite shows on Broadway. I've seen it several times and will no doubt see it many more times in the future. But until then I will just enjoy the music of the 80's sung by the talented cast of Rock of Ages. Pick up a copy at a store near you if you get the chance. You will love it.

Yes I'll admit it. I'm a huge Rock of Ages fan.How could I not be? We're talking about a show that features some of the greatest songs ever written. Not only that but it has the sexiest cast on the stage today.The show which opened to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike was nominated for five 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical. It constantly amazes me how fast news changes in this business. Case in point. I was halfway thru a blog about Amy Spanger returning to Rock of Ages tonight when my co-worker informed me that in fact she was not returning tonight but instead leaving the show for good. Now I personally don't know the reason for Ms. Spanger's departure. According to a representative of the production it was for personal reasons. It was also reported that she had been absent from the show since June 8 due to vocal rest. I myself hope that she is o.k. and that this talented performer will be back on the boards in the near future. She truly is one of a kind. Best of luck Amy!

Okay, so I got to see Rock of Ages on Thursday night at its new home The Brooks Atkinson Theatre. I loved it Off- Broadway and I loved it just as much at the Atkinson. Set in In the late 1980's Rock of Ages takes place in a bar on the Sunset Strip and tells of a love story between a wanna be rocker and a small town girl. Rock of Ages features songs from your favorite big hair bands such as REO Speedwagon, STYX, Journey, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, and many more. As it is intended for mature audiences (14+) I took my 8 1/2 year old daughter to see it for her second time along with my husband who loved it and are asking to see it yet again. I have to tell you how happy I am that Rock of Ages is moving into a Broadway theatre March 17th after a very successful run Off-Broadway.
This show transported me back to my younger years. Rock of Ages has all the hits from Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar and many others.
Taking place in 1987 on The Sundset Strip in LA's most famous rock club, it tells the story of a small town girl that meets a big city rocker and how they fall in love.

I had loads of fun when I first saw Rock of Ages in an Off Broadway theater some months ago. I am happy to see that the show will move to Broadway and play the Brooks Atkinson Theater starting with performances on March 17, 2009.

Rock of Ages is a "rock musical" that takes place in Hollywood in the mid 1980's. The story is cute, about a small town girl meeting a big city rock star at L.A.s most famous rock n' roll club. The two fall in love to the "hit songs of the 80's". How cute is that?

Rock of Ages features music that of many of us grew up with- Bon Jovi, Journey, Styx, Pat Benetar, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and several others. I couldn't believe how I knew most of the songs and look forward to seeing Rock of Ages again in the next week or two.

Chris D'Arienzo wrote the musical and Kristin Haggi is the director of Rock of Ages. Choreography is by Kelly Devine. Rock of Ages starring actors are Constantine Maroulis, Amy Spanger and James Carpinello with an energetic and extremely talented supporting ensemble.

Cast Announced For Broadway Run Of Rock Of Ages

Complete casting has been announced for the upcoming Broadway production of Rock of Ages, which will begin previews at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre March 17. Following an acclaimed run at Off-Broadway's New World Stages, the eighties-scored musical will officially open on Broadway April 7. The cast will be headed by "American Idol" finalist Constantine Maroulis (The Wedding Singer), who will reprise the role of Drew that he performed Off-Broadway. He will be joined for the Broadway run by Amy Spanger (The Wedding Singer; Kiss Me, Kate) as Sherrie and James Carpinello (Saturday Night Fever, VH1's "So NoTORIous") as Stacee Jaxx.

I can't tell you how much I loved this show. Being a huge 80's fan I constantly found myself singing along with all the songs during the show. Everybody in the cast was top notch. If you haven't seen it yet then I highly recommend that you do. You will have the time of your life. I sure did.
